ベトナム人HIV感染妊婦から出生した新生児17人を対象に、AZTシロップ内服直前と4時間後のAZT血中濃度と細胞内のAZTリン酸化物を測定し、現行のHIV母子感染予防における新生児AZT用量の妥当性を検討しました。その結果、新生児における高濃度AZT血中濃度は細胞内AZT-TP濃度の上昇に結びついておらず、より毒性の少ない低用量でも同等の効果が得られることが示唆されました。
発表された研究内容は、Journal of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndromesに受理されました。
